First of all, Google Glass made wearers look absolutely ridiculous. It reminded people of what looked more like a 1950s cyborg. The glasses are extremely noticeable and are not necessarily “fashion forward”. Secondly, it made people around wearers feel uncomfortable, especially those who were most concerned about their privacy (bear in mind, the Glass could take an image or video of anything the wearer was seeing. Also, many users found themselves being denied access to clubs or even restaurants because of it. This made it less and less popular over time.
Probably what really gave the Glass the finishing blow was their marketing strategy. You will find that there was no real product launch or announced date where consumers can line up to get one. If that didn’t do it then it was probably the$1 500 price tag for the gadget. Overall, Google has seen that the product isn’t ideally suitable for everyday consumer and has ventured into providing for companies such as Boeing and AGCO who actually have reasonable functionality for the product. Hopefully, this path is the rebirth that Google needs at this point.
