Volvo Life Paint is a unique water based reflective safety spray. Invisible by daylight, it glows brightly in direct glare of car headlights, making the invisible, visible. Life Paint washes off, and will not damage the colour or the surface of your chosen material, lasting more than a week of normal usage. Life Paint can be used in all sorts of ways. Please note that it works best on textile materials. Applied to clothes, shoes, helmets, pushchairs and children's backpacks - even dog leads and collars. It is a great way to stay visible at night and remarkably safe on the roads.
Ultimately the product is an intelligent and well-intentioned innovation to try and reduce road accidents but the amount of raised eye brows it has amassed from eyeing critics is simply egregious. Some of the concerns raised included how it doesn’t stick to helmets and bike frames as implied in the ads and brushes off at first touch like glitter. It needs intense application in order to create a significant reflective area such as the lower leg of a jean and that takes about half a can. Even after all this the spray only lasts for about a week after. Ultimately the process becomes tiring and expensive merely to create a reflective surface.
If you are one who doesn’t mind testing out this ingenious novelty even though it turned out rather disappointing when opposed to expectations it’s available for sale online either at the Volvo website or on eBay. It can be useful in the long run for many other, but if you are a regular cyclist it is probably not the best alternative.
