Scientifically proven ways to get rid of creative block

Most, if not all managers and directors often find themselves sitting in their rotating chairs wondering what their next big step forward should be. So do most journalists, architects, graphic designers, musicians and even students seated in an "O" level exam. Everybody has a moment when they just have an idea that they can’t push through and they get this strange voice filling their heads saying “Where is my creativity when I need it?” Fortunately ( as with many other mental-related issues) a group of psychologists sat down and gave it some deep thought and so here we are, with some of the ways that can help you get rid of the creative block in your system.

First of all, don’t be afraid to dirty your canvas. This is one of the greatest problems that many creative minds face. It’s like one of the infamous musicians (Deru) said – “Place an ink-stained handprint on its blankness so you have something to fix.” Many people often get caught up in creating this absolutely perfect article, painting or idea that they never actually get to creating anything. Nothing is ever good enough. However, if you dirty your hands just a little bit, allow yourself to make a few mistakes and actually put something in front of you that you can actually behold, don’t be surprised if you start getting a few ideas flowing.

Another way people often get more productive is by inducing a feeling of panic. Some people feel that they work better under pressure. Often having a deadline on your tail is just the motivation you need to start working. Some people’s minds always work like this. Sub-consciously, if there is no rush, no excitement added to whatever they are doing, their minds switch off. The moment their boss starts yelling or their favourite show is about to start in 10 mins, the ideas start flowing. Try this and see if you don’t have something on your desk within the next hour.

Lastly, if all of this fails, then quit. Seriously. Of course, the thousands of people who have gone through oceans of motivational content probably have a quote or two to throw at me or just simply don’t believe in the idea. Well, sometimes It’s not really the creative block but you’ve just worked your brain enough and need it give it a rest. Go on Facebook or go watch TV or just unplug for a few minutes. Your brain needs it. Try a couple of these and see if it doesn’t get your creative juices flowing again.
