What is RAM? This is the memory within the computer which programs need in order to run and they can access it at random . In fact, RAM stands for Random Access Memory. In order to make sense of it, think of RAM as the muscle of the computer. It represents the load in which the machine can handle at a particular time. The more RAM it has, the more it can handle at the same time. So if for instance, a computer with 4GB RAM can run 8 large apps at the same, if you made it run 16 large apps at the same time, it will crash or in other words, the muscle would give out. But take a computer with 8GB RAM and give it 16 apps, it will be able to manage them adequately. So if you know you’re not going to be using very heavy applications, a 2GB RAM would be adequate, but if you are going to be using heavy editing apps, video games or graphics software, you might need a more powerful RAM probably 8GB or more. If you want you could even splurge and get the Alienware 18 which has 32GB RAM, (but it’s impossible to max out).
Now to the processors. You can liken it to the speed of the machine – how fast your computer can process information. Currently, on the market, the fastest processor available is the Core i9 by Intel, but you might parch your wallet trying to get on. The most affordable that most prefer is the i7 and it’s pretty decent. It is usually written close to the touchpad of the computer and you can check it before you buy. Get rid of that little blue swirling circle staying on your screen for too long by getting this one. Basically, these are some of the few items that most people question before they buy a laptop and it might be helpful to know before you go out and get one of yours. Oh yeah, and lastly, who’s Cortana? Well buy a windows laptop and ask her – she loves to go on about herself. You’ll see.
